Testing the Shure SM7B Microphone on Facebook Live

In this Facebook Live, I test out my brand new Shure SM7B Microphone.

There were some crackling noises and minor audio issues, apparently caused by my webcam in Open Broadcast Software (OBS) streaming at a resolution of 1920 x 1080 instead of 1280 x 720.

Subjects discussed include:

  • My new Beastgrip Pro video rig for smartphone

  1. Jordan Hopton Sylvain Renaud Jason Scott Rainville Thanks for watching and for the feedback/comments guys! Much appreciated!

Definitely some crackling/popping at certain times throughout the live stream.

Now I have to figure out where in the chain the problem is. Is it because I’m live streaming and it’s having a hard time with the bitrate? Is it my sound card, mixing board, or is it electrical interference with the XLR cable?

I’m not getting this crackling noise when I’m testing in Adobe Audition, so I’m almost inclined to think the problem is with the actual live stream. But I’m definitely looking forward to finding out exactly what the issue is.
